An artist is a community member at What’s Ya House.

(1) monthly food drive; artists cook together to feed the community.

(1) monthly community event held at the Crenshaw Farmers Market inviting community to create art based off each artists practice.

(1) yearly community mural donated to a local Crenshaw Business in need and a minimum of

(6) local school visits where artists volunteer time to be a guest artist and create their work with youth of South LA.

How does this residency differ from others?

Each artist is an active community participant.

Each artist will attend individual monthly financial advisory meetings . This residency will support the artist during and after by providing tools for financial wellness partnering with US Bank.

Artists come together weekly to discuss community needs and projects that will be conducted.

Each artist is responsible for their part. This residency is for the artists that is or wants to be an active community member.

This is a 4 bedroom 4 bathroom home with an artist studio built in, finished basement and backyard.

With 4,000 square feet this offers each artist of South LA something that is rarely given. Space to breathe, create, live freely and opportunity to have a successful career.
